Medical Group Accuses RSF of Storming Hospital in East Darfur
East Darfur, April 2, 2026 - A Sudanese medical organization has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of storming a hospital in Ed Daein and assaulting healthcare workers, amid worsening insecurity in the region.
In a statement released Thursday, the Sudan Doctors Network said an RSF unit raided Al-Usra Hospital in the Al-Nazir neighborhood, where medical staff were reportedly beaten during the incident.
The group said the attackers caused extensive damage to the facility and destroyed critical medical equipment, severely disrupting healthcare services in the city.
Ed Daein, which is under RSF control, has experienced a sharp deterioration in security conditions, with increasing reports of violent crime, including killings, looting, and kidnappings for ransom.
According to the statement, the attack occurred without any response from local authorities, raising concerns about the safety of civilians and the ability of medical facilities to operate under current conditions.
The Sudan Doctors Network also alleged that the group responsible for the raid is protected by local administrative leadership, and described the incident as a serious violation of international law prohibiting attacks on healthcare infrastructure and personnel.
The report comes amid a broader escalation of violence against medical workers in Darfur. In a separate incident on March 30, a doctor was killed in Nyala following an assault by RSF personnel at his residence.
The organization warned that continued attacks on healthcare facilities risk further collapsing already fragile medical services in conflict-affected areas.
