UN Reports Civilian Deaths from Drone Strikes in Sudan as Humanitarian Aid Expands

United Nations, June 12, 2026 - At least six civilians have been killed in drone strikes in Sudan’s Kordofan region, according to the United Nations, as aid operations continue to reach populations cut off by ongoing fighting.

A UN spokesperson reported that a drone strike in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, killed at least four civilians and injured several others on Wednesday. In a separate incident, two people were killed when another strike hit a vehicle in Dilling, South Kordofan.

The UN condemned the killing of civilians and reiterated calls for all parties to the conflict to protect non-combatants and civilian infrastructure.

Despite continued insecurity and restricted access, humanitarian agencies have managed to deliver assistance to several affected areas. Relief convoys carrying health, nutrition, and water supplies reached communities in Dilling and Kadugli, assisting tens of thousands of people cut off by the fighting.

Additional food distributions were carried out in parts of Blue Nile State, where displaced populations continue to face deteriorating living conditions.

UN agencies urged all sides to facilitate safe and sustained humanitarian access, warning that continued restrictions and insecurity are deepening the humanitarian crisis across multiple regions of Sudan.
