Two Drones Shot Down Over Timbuktu Airport

TIMBUKTU, Mali - Residents of Timbuktu were jolted awake early Monday, September 29, by a series of explosions that the military later confirmed were caused by hostile drones targeting the city’s airport.

In an official statement, the Chief of Staff of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) announced that two “enemy drones” attempting to strike the airport had been intercepted and destroyed in flight. The statement praised the “exemplary responsiveness and professionalism” of the defense units involved in the operation.
