Timbuktu, Mali - JNIM Targets Military Vehicle with IED
Timbuktu, December 21, 2025 - JNIM militants claimed responsibility for an attack on a Malian army and African corps military truck. The assault involved an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the road linking Timbuktu to Gondam.
This attack highlights the persistent threat posed by armed extremist groups in northern Mali, aiming to disrupt military movements and assert control over key routes. Authorities have reportedly increased patrols and security measures along strategic roads in the Timbuktu region to prevent similar incidents.
