Timbuktu | ISIS Engages JNIM in Armed Clash

Timbuktu, January 6, 2026 - ISIS fighters reportedly clashed with JNIM militants near Doro, in the Timbuktu region. According to local sources, the encounter resulted in the death of one JNIM fighter and injuries to several others. During the clash, ISIS forces are reported to have seized weapons and equipment from JNIM, demonstrating their tactical advantage in the confrontation. Following the attack, the remaining JNIM fighters fled the area, leaving ISIS in control of the immediate vicinity.
