Three Civilians Injured in FARDC Drone Strike on AFC/M23 Position
MASISI, February 27, 2026 - Three civilians were seriously injured on Thursday evening, February 26, during an army drone strike targeting an AFC/M23 rebel position in the Isiro neighborhood of Nyabiondo, Masisi territory, North Kivu.
Local sources reported that the explosion sent shrapnel into nearby homes, injuring three residents from the same neighborhood, who were urgently evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
No official figures have been released regarding casualties among the rebels. Access to the targeted site remains restricted, preventing independent verification of the damage.
The strike is part of resurgent military operations in Masisi, where clashes between government forces (FARDC) and AFC/M23 rebels have intensified in recent weeks. Nyabiondo continues to be a strategic focal point in the ongoing conflict.
