The Beni Health Zone Receives Medication for Malnutrition and Malaria
Kinshasa, February 8, 2026 - The Beni health zone in North Kivu received a significant donation of medication for malnutrition and malaria on Saturday, January 24, provided by the central government through the Ministry of Public Health. This donation aims to strengthen healthcare services in a region severely affected by these endemic diseases, worsened by armed conflict, according to regional authorities.
Local health officials welcomed this aid as the result of repeated advocacy efforts, following a rise in cases and deaths linked to malaria and malnutrition.
The zone’s chief medical officer, Dr. Kasereka Tosalisana Michel, thanked the national and provincial authorities for their swift response to a scourge devastating the population.
“We thank the central and provincial governments for this crucial step in the fight against malaria, in addition to the horrors of war,” said Dr. Kasereka.
Prisca Kamala Luanda, the provincial health coordinator, added:
“This endemic area has recorded numerous cases and deaths; the government has heard the population’s cries for help.”
The handover ceremony took place at the Beni health zone office, in the presence of provincial authorities and health partners, signaling hope for a significant decrease in cases in the coming weeks.
