Sudanese Army Hits RSF Positions in Coordinated Multi-State Operations

Khartoum, April 23, 2026 - The Sudanese army carried out coordinated air and ground operations targeting positions held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across six states on Thursday, striking weapon depots, ammunition stockpiles, and drone launch sites, according to military statements.

The army said it has expanded its use of drone warfare in recent months, particularly in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, where it claims repeated strikes have inflicted significant losses on RSF personnel and equipment.

Military leadership described the latest operations as part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling RSF air defenses, logistics networks, storage facilities, and airstrips, with the objective of weakening its overall combat capacity.

In parallel, groups aligned with the RSF accused the army of hitting densely populated civilian areas in parts of Kordofan and Darfur, alleging that the strikes have resulted in civilian casualties. These claims could not be independently verified.

A spokesperson for the armed forces stated that the military achieved what it called “decisive strikes” against RSF forces across multiple fronts over a 72-hour period. The army also announced the capture of the Muqaja area in the Blue Nile region, reporting the destruction of several combat vehicles and the killing or capture of dozens of RSF fighters.

In West Kordofan, the army said it intercepted an RSF mobilization involving tanks and armored vehicles in the Al-Sunut area, destroying a large number of military assets. Additional operations in North Kordofan reportedly resulted in the destruction of further combat vehicles.

The military further stated that strikes in South Darfur targeted RSF outposts, drone platforms, and fuel depots in an effort to disrupt operational logistics. Similar attacks in Central and North Darfur reportedly destroyed additional combat vehicles and caused further casualties.

According to the army, the operations reflect ongoing efforts to regain territorial control and restore national security amid continuing conflict.
