Sudan Army Recaptures Blue Nile Town from RSF-Rebel Alliance

Blue Nile, April 29, 2026 - The Sudanese army has announced the recapture of the town of Mogja in the Blue Nile region following heavy fighting with a coalition of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied rebel groups.

In a statement, the army’s 4th Infantry Division described the operation as a “significant victory,” saying its forces successfully liberated the town after intense clashes that forced opposing fighters into retreat. The military added that the withdrawing forces suffered heavy losses in both personnel and equipment.

According to the army command, the operation is part of a broader military campaign aimed at securing the Blue Nile region and eliminating remaining RSF elements from strategic locations.

The Sudanese government has also renewed accusations against neighboring Ethiopia, alleging that RSF-linked camps are being hosted on its territory with financial support from the United Arab Emirates. Both Ethiopia and the UAE have previously denied any involvement in Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
