Sikasso, Mali - JNIM Seizes Army Post in Garlou
Sikasso, December 25, 2025 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced that it had taken control of a Malian army post in Garlou, located in the Sikasso region, on the evening of Thursday, December 25, 2025.
This action highlights the group’s continued operational reach in southern Mali, demonstrating its ability to target and temporarily seize government military positions. Malian authorities have not yet provided details on casualties, the number of soldiers affected, or the current status of the post. Security forces are reportedly assessing the situation and considering measures to regain control and reinforce the area.
