Security Situation Worsens: JNIM Ambush in Ségou
Ségou, February 12, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced an ambush against a Malian army patrol near the town of Niono, in the Ségou region, on the morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Authorities note that the fighting is gradually spreading from rural areas to urban centers, signaling a new phase of the conflict and highlighting the continued deterioration of Mali’s security situation.
