Ségou Region - JNIM Captures Malian Army Barracks
Ségou Region -, January 2, 2026 - The Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) announced that it had taken full control of a Malian army barracks in Alatouna, near the town of Diabali, on the evening of January 2, 2026.
This takeover highlights JNIM’s continued ability to strike government forces and expand its influence in the Ségou region, increasing security concerns for the area.
