Ségou Region: Armed Group Claims IED Attack on Military Vehicle
Bamako, April 20, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced that it carried out an attack targeting a Malian military vehicle in the Ségou region.
According to the claim, the incident took place between Markala and Kimakina, where an improvised explosive device was reportedly detonated against a vehicle belonging to the Malian armed forces. The group described the attack as part of a broader series of operations targeting military movements in the area.
No independent confirmation of the incident or details on possible casualties has been provided by official sources at this stage.
The reported attack comes amid continued insecurity in central Mali, where road-based ambushes and explosive devices are frequently used against military convoys and patrols.
