Rwandan Prime Minister Calls for Continued Vigilance in Safeguarding National Security

Kigali, July 4, 2026 - BIGOGWE, Nyabihu District, July 4, 2026 - Rwandan Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has called on citizens to remain vigilant and continue working with security institutions to preserve the country's peace and stability, saying national security requires the active participation of all Rwandans.

Speaking at the close of a three-month civil-military outreach program in Bigogwe Sector as part of the 32nd Liberation Day celebrations, the Prime Minister praised the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) for ending the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and acknowledged the sacrifices made by its soldiers and veterans in securing the country.

He said security goes beyond the absence of armed conflict, emphasizing that it also means protecting the country's peace, unity, and development. He urged citizens to uphold national values, strengthen social cohesion, and avoid complacency in safeguarding the gains achieved over the past three decades.

The annual outreach program, organized under the theme of collaboration between the population, the Rwanda Defence Force, and the Rwanda National Police, included the construction of homes, bridges, and classrooms, as well as the provision of boats, medical services, and access to clean water for communities across the country.
