Rwandan Police Chief holds talks with Kenyan counterpart in Nairobi

Nairobi, April 4, 2026 - Rwanda’s Police Commissioner General Felix Namuhoranye held high-level talks with his Kenyan counterpart Douglas Kanja during an official working visit to Kenya, as both sides moved to strengthen bilateral security cooperation.

The meeting, which took place on March 24 in Nairobi, focused on strengthening collaboration between the two police forces, particularly through knowledge sharing and joint efforts in areas of mutual interest.

Both officials discussed plans to formalize cooperation through a new agreement, with a shared commitment to tackling cross-border and emerging forms of crime.

During the talks, CG Namuhoranye also invited Kanja to attend upcoming celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Rwanda National Police, scheduled for May.

Rwanda and Kenya already maintain cooperation across several sectors, including security, with ongoing efforts to deepen institutional ties.

The meeting comes amid continued high-level exchanges between the two countries. In a previous engagement, Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces Charles Muriu Kahariri visited Rwanda and held discussions with his counterpart Mubaraka Muganga as part of broader defense cooperation initiatives.
