Refugee Testimony Highlights Alleged Human Rights Violations
Mauritania, February 24, 2026 - A Malian refugee in the Mbera camp, Oumou Ba, has provided a harrowing account of violence by the Malian army, according to a report by dw_arabic.
Oumou Ba stated that her village was attacked by Malian forces, resulting in nine deaths and 24 arrests. She fled with a group of villagers, separated from her family, citing threats from the army: should they return, “they would kill everyone, men and women.”
This testimony has reignited concerns over serious human rights violations against civilians in Mali, raising calls for accountability and protection of affected populations.
