Passenger Convoy Attacked, Several Injured
Rutshuru DRC February 2, 2026 - A passenger convoy traveling from Rutshuru to Butembo was ambushed on Sunday afternoon on the Rwindi-Kanyabayonga road, an area under AFC/M23 control. Armed assailants opened fire and used bladed weapons, injuring several passengers. No deaths were reported. All valuables were looted, and victims were taken to medical facilities in Kanyabayonga. Civil society groups warn that such attacks are becoming increasingly frequent and are calling for urgent measures to protect civilians and secure the road.
