Paris, France - The Conference in Support of Peace and Prosperity in the Great Lakes Region, held on October 30, 2025, under the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi, mobilized €1.5 billion to assist populations affected by conflict and the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

During the event, Macron highlighted the severity of the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, noting that a woman is raped every four minutes and a child every thirty, while also commending the resilience of the region’s people.

The funds are intended as a sustainable investment in peace, dignity, and the future of millions of displaced individuals and those facing food insecurity across the African Great Lakes region. Organizers stressed that the mobilization represents a strong international commitment to supporting stability and humanitarian relief in one of the world’s most conflict-affected areas.
