Officer Killed in Goma Amid Severe Shortages in Armed Forces
Goma, February 6, 2026 - Captain Amadou Coulibaly, head of the Goma-Coura detachment, was shot dead at point-blank range inside the camp on February 6, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the tragedy stemmed from a dispute over a piece of meat, exposing a situation of extreme shortages and widespread hardship within the armed forces, where hunger and scarcity contributed directly to the officer’s death.
The incident underscores the critical logistical and humanitarian challenges faced by the military in the region.
