North Kivu: WFP Pledges Continued Support for Displaced Persons Amid Funding Shortfalls

Beni, North Kivu, DRC - During a visit to Beni on October 30, Evelyn Etti, Deputy Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in the DRC, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to displaced populations in North Kivu, despite ongoing financial constraints.

Following discussions with the provincial vice-governor, Etti announced an upcoming WFP mission to Walikale to assess local needs on the ground. She thanked provincial authorities for their support and emphasized that the nutrition of women and children remains a top priority.

Etti stressed that the WFP will continue to support displaced families in the region for as long as necessary, highlighting the organization’s ongoing role in mitigating the humanitarian impact of conflict in eastern DRC.
