North Kivu: AFC/M23 rebels lose four positions in Kibati after clashes with Wazalendo
On Friday, 10 October 2025, intense fighting broke out between AFC/M23 rebels and Wazalendo militiamen in Kibati, a group located more than 100 kilometres from Walikale in North Kivu. The Wazalendo succeeded in dislodging the rebels from four of their five positions established in Kibati since last April.
The clashes left at least 16 rebels dead and two Wazalendo militiamen wounded, who were evacuated to Kibua for medical treatment. This victory for the Wazalendo comes amid growing tensions and recurring violence in the region.
