North Kivu: 29 Killed in ADF Attack on Byambwe

Kinshasa, November 25, 2025 - Byambwe, Lubero Territory - November 17, 2025. The death toll from the deadly assault carried out by ADF rebels between Friday night, November 14, and Saturday morning, November 15, has risen to 29 victims, including 11 women and 7 men, according to local authorities. The attackers targeted the Byambwe health center and the surrounding village, inflicting severe civilian losses in a locality already hosting displaced families fleeing earlier violence.

In addition to the human toll, the assault caused extensive material damage, further aggravating the humanitarian situation in the area.

Colonel Alain Kiwewa, administrator of Lubero territory, condemned the attack as a crime against humanity, urging residents to reinforce support for the joint operations conducted by the FARDC and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). These operations aim to pursue ADF fighters and restore security across the region, which has been plagued by recurrent insurgent attacks.
