Nigerien Chief of Staff Visits Mali to Strengthen Military Ties
Bamako, December 17, 2025 - Major General Moussa Salaou Barmou, Chief of Staff of the Nigerien Armed Forces, paid an official working visit to Bamako on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. During his visit, he met with his Malian counterpart, Major General Oumar Diarra, and toured several prominent memorial sites, including the “Mali Cèbaw” (Great Men of Mali) and “Mali Kèlèmasaw” (Warlords) squares, as well as the Army Museum.
These memorial sites, recently inaugurated by the President of the Transition, now honor emblematic figures of Malian history, replacing the former names: Explorers Square and Governors of French Sudan Square.
