Niger’s Security Forces Achieve Major Gains Against Cross-Border Crime and Terrorism

Niamey, Niger - Niger’s Defense and Security Forces (FDS) marked a week of notable successes in their ongoing efforts to combat cross-border crime and terrorism, with operations spanning multiple regions of the country.

In the Agadez region, the National Guard of Niger (GNN) achieved a “double” success on Friday, November 7, 2025. In separate operations, officers intercepted a vehicle entering from Libya carrying a large cache of weapons and ammunition, while in another operation, they arrested drug traffickers in possession of several balls of cannabis resin. Authorities said these operations underscore the persistent threat posed by transnational trafficking networks and highlight the vigilance of Niger’s forces in securing the northern borders.

Meanwhile, at a national briefing held at Camp Abdou Garba in Niamey on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Grouping of Track Brigades of the National Guard presented an operational report covering September 29 to October 31, 2025. The report revealed significant seizures of drugs, weapons, and suspicious funds, alongside the arrest of alleged terrorists. Officials described the period as one of “intense, targeted interventions” across Niger, reinforcing the government’s commitment to a relentless fight against all forms of criminality.
