Niamey, December 20, 2025 - Niger, alongside Mali and Burkina Faso, participated in the official flag presentation ceremonies of the Unified Military Force of the Alliance of Sahel States (UF-AES), held on December 20, 2025, in Bamako, under the chairmanship of the Malian Head of State and current Chairman of the Alliance, General Assimi Goïta.

This historic initiative illustrates the commitment of member states, including Niger, to strengthening regional military and security cooperation. It also reflects the shared determination to assume sovereign responsibility for the defense of the Sahel and to respond collectively to the growing security challenges facing the region.

The creation and operationalization of the UF-AES are part of a collective vision centered on enhanced coordination and the integration of national armed forces’ capabilities. Through this engagement, Niger reaffirms its commitment to common security, regional solidarity, and lasting stability throughout the Sahel.
