Niger Hosts Specialized Rehabilitation Program for Extremists, Launched by the Islamic Coalition

Niamey, December 17, 2025 - The Islamic Military Coalition against Terrorism has launched a specialized program in Niamey aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals involved in violent extremism. This initiative forms part of the Coalition's efforts to support member states and strengthen their capacity to address the security and social consequences of extremism.

Implemented within integration and rehabilitation centers, the program provides a structured and sustainable approach to facilitate the gradual reintegration of beneficiaries into society. It emphasizes preventing recidivism, strengthening the social fabric, and promoting values of peaceful coexistence.

A total of 29 specialists from various sectors, including security, psychosocial support, religious affairs, and education, are participating. This multi-sectoral approach ensures a comprehensive strategy, reinforcing national capacities, sharing expertise, and adapting best practices to the Nigerien context.

Through this initiative, the Islamic Coalition reaffirms its commitment to supporting Niger in promoting stability, enhancing intellectual and social security, and implementing sustainable responses to the challenges posed by violent extremism in the region.
