Niger-Filingué: Two School Principals Murdered and Another Deadly Incursion
December 4, 2025 - Two school principals from the Filingué Education Inspectorate were murdered this morning by members of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS). The victims, known for their courage and competence, were on their way to the General Assembly of the Federal Council of Commissioners (FCC) in Filingué when they were coldly targeted. Among them was Mr. Abdoulaye Askou, also known as Baba Tandja.
A few hours later, between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., another terrorist incursion struck the region, this time the village of Maïtalakia. The assailants killed the village chief's son, sowing terror among the inhabitants. During their retreat, the same assailants intercepted and executed the son of the village chief of Sabon Gari, near Toukounous, a locality known as the birthplace of General Tiani.
These attacks demonstrate the continued deadly incursions in the Tillabéri region. Local authorities and security forces are now on high alert to prevent further attacks and protect the exposed civilian population.
