New Fuel Crisis Hits Mali as JNIM Attacks Resume
Bamako, December 6, 2025 - Following a temporary lull in hostilities due to an agreement between JNIM and the Malian Military Council, attacks resumed between December 3 and 4, 2025, reigniting a fuel crisis in Bamako and Ségou.
In Ségou, fuel shortages were severe, with no gas stations reporting available supply on Thursday, December 4. On the black market, a liter of fuel was selling for 2,000 to 2,500 CFA francs.
In Bamako, residents faced long queues at the few operating gas stations. The resurgence of attacks and the breakdown of the temporary agreement have disrupted the energy supply, aggravating the economic and social strain on the population.
