New Clashes Between AFC/M23 and Wazalendo Disrupt Daily Life
Kinshasa, February 23, 2026 - The security situation in Kavumu, Kabare territory, remains chaotic after new clashes erupted on Sunday morning between AFC/M23 elements and the Wazalendo.
The exchanges of fire, which began around 5:00 a.m., have paralyzed daily activities in the town and surrounding areas. Residents have stayed indoors, churches remain empty, and public transportation has been disrupted.
Markets, shops, and businesses have been closed since the early hours, while local communities continue to live in fear amid the ongoing tensions.
These clashes follow days of violence in the Kabare territory, with confrontations between the warring parties first intensifying on Friday.
