Kinshasa, February 4, 2026 - The UN Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) announced it has strengthened its preparedness to support the ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism between the Congolese government and the AFC/M23, following talks facilitated in Doha by Qatar. MONUSCO confirmed it is authorized under UN Security Council Resolution 2808 (2025) to assist in implementing a permanent ceasefire, and will provide technical and logistical support through the ICGLR-backed mechanism (EJVM+). The Mission is expected to deploy an initial team to Uvira in the coming days to monitor compliance, as parties reaffirmed their commitment to the Doha Peace Framework signed on November 15, 2025.
