Military Command Handover in Region No.
Kidal, February 25, 2026 - Colonel Attaher A. Maïga has officially taken command of Military Region No. 7.
The handover ceremony was presided over by Brigadier General Mamadou Massaoulé Samaké, commander of the Eastern Regional Command of Operation DOUGOUKOLOKO, and took place at Camp 2 garrison. Colonel Maïga assumed command from the outgoing Colonel-Major Daouda Sagara.
The event was attended by key regional figures, including Major General Elhadj ag Gamou, regional directors, the president of the veterans’ association, and representatives of the Kidal youth association. The ceremony highlighted continuity in leadership and military oversight in the strategically sensitive Kidal region.
