Mediator and Wife Beheaded by Rogue Militiamen

Kinshasa, February 3, 2026 - Deaths continue in Kwamouth, despite ongoing efforts to encourage militiamen to surrender. Between January 26 and 27, a mediator and his wife were killed at the Brazza farm, deep in the territory.

The man had been sent to raise awareness among militiamen as part of the peace process recently launched on the Bateke Plateau by Minister Delegate for Defense, in charge of veterans, Eliezer Ntambwe. He was killed by rogue militiamen, who subsequently dismembered his body. His wife, accompanying him, was also murdered by the same armed men.

Chief Stany Libie of Kimomo village supports government efforts to encourage militiamen to surrender, stating that force must be used against those resisting the peace initiative.

“Some militiamen have rejected the message of peace, including the Cobra and American warlords, in Diangele, who have boycotted government actions. For all enemies of peace, measures must be taken to neutralize them. This is yet another sabotage of the peace process by these militiamen,” said Stany Libie.

Several Mobondo militiamen have voluntarily surrendered as part of the awareness campaign led by Minister Eliezer Ntambwe. In Kwamouth and the Maluku commune, some militiamen have joined the defense and security forces.

The Deputy Minister of Defense, responsible for veterans, reported encountering several victims attempting to protect themselves. However, the implementation of government programs has been delayed due to persistent insecurity in this region of Maï-Ndombe.
