Masisi - Gradual Return of Displaced Persons to Mahanga After Rebel Occupation
Masisi, November 26, 2025 - After nearly a week of forced displacement following the occupation of Mahanga village (Nyamaboko 1 group, Masisi territory) by the AFC/M23 rebels, residents are gradually returning home. The return is driven by the harsh conditions and suffering endured in the forest, and includes families from nearby areas, such as Bitoi village. However, the process remains complex.
The Mahanga health center has been completely stripped of its medicines, leaving the population without immediate access to healthcare. The exact number of households that have returned has not yet been determined.
