Malian Army Neutralizes Multiple Terrorist Cells Near Ségou
Ségou, February 7, 2026 - The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mali announced that during territorial surveillance operations west of Ségou, several armed terrorist groups were located and neutralized. According to the military, a group of approximately fifteen individuals hiding in a wooded area was targeted successfully. A second strike eliminated about ten terrorists and their equipment as they attempted to land by dugout canoe on the left bank of the Niger River. In the same region, another group of roughly ten terrorists on motorcycles was also located and neutralized. The Chief of the General Staff assured the public that coordinated operations to search for and neutralize terrorist elements are continuing throughout the country, reflecting the army’s commitment to maintaining security and territorial integrity.
