Sikasso, January 4, 2026 - Sikasso Region - December 26 & 31, 2025
IED Attacks: On December 31, 2025, the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (GSIM) claimed responsibility for targeting Malian army vehicles with three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near Loulouni.
Seizure of Army Positions: Earlier, on December 26, 2025, the GSIM announced it had taken control of three Malian army positions in the town of Kalana.
These incidents highlight the persistent threat posed by the GSIM in Sikasso, demonstrating both direct attacks on military assets and territorial incursions.
