Mali - Security Update, Niono Region
Niono Region -, December 29, 2025 - The Malian army carried out an airstrike using two suicide drones targeting the Toumoni market, east of Dogofry. The attack set the market on fire and resulted in the destruction of residents’ property.
On the same day, the village chief of Mbé (Mourja commune) and two other individuals went missing, raising concerns about local security and possible retaliatory actions or abductions in the area.
This incident underscores the escalation of drone usage in counterinsurgency operations and the risk posed to civilians and local authorities in conflict-affected areas.
