Bamako, January 4, 2026 - Bamako Region - December 25-28, 2025
December 25, 2025: GSIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims) attacked a tanker truck convoy in the Bougouni region, setting 20 trucks on fire.
December 27, 2025: The group announced the arrest of Malian army officer Ahmed Touré and his bodyguards near Bamako, signaling targeted actions against military personnel.
December 28, 2025: GSIM claimed responsibility for targeting another Malian army convoy escorting tanker trucks on the Bougouni-Bamako road using an improvised explosive device (IED).
These incidents demonstrate continued threats to logistical convoys and military personnel in the area, highlighting GSIM’s capacity for ambushes and targeted operations near the capital.
