Mali: CD-DPA and Experts Call for International Action Amid Escalating Atrocities in Azawad

Bamako, December 3, 2025 - The Group of Experts calls on the United Nations, African Union, ECOWAS, European Union, and international human rights organizations to recognize the gravity of these crimes, document the violations, and take diplomatic, judicial, and law enforcement measures to end impunity.

According to the experts, these repeated massacres are no longer mere military operations-they constitute a campaign of ethnic cleansing targeting entire villages.

The Group of Experts reaffirms its commitment to truth, justice, human dignity, and the protection of all communities in Mali.

The Collective for the Defense of the Rights of the People of Azawad (CD-DPA) published a new summary report covering November 24 to 30, 2025, highlighting the gravity of violations committed in Azawad and certain regions of central Mali. Key findings include:

3 cases of arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, or abductions

4 cases of torture and other forms of violence

26 cases of destruction, looting, and property damage, illustrating a scorched-earth strategy

1 case of environmental damage

No sexual assaults recorded during this period

These figures confirm the continued deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation, marked by operations directly targeting civilians, leaving already vulnerable populations at great risk.
