GAYA, Niger - On September 29, 2025, the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) seized 47 bricks of cocaine, totaling 51.7 kilograms and valued at CFAF 2.585 billion, in a major border operation.

The interdiction disrupted transnational criminal networks and exposed ongoing vulnerabilities along Niger’s southern borders. The operation also highlighted the growing capabilities of specialized Nigerien units in combating organized crime.

Strategically, authorities note that drug trafficking may be linked to terrorist financing, underscoring the need for enhanced cross-border coordination and intelligence sharing.
