Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay Appointed Interim Spokesperson for the FARDC
Kinshasa, January 7, 2026 - Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay Mongba has been appointed interim spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), according to a service note signed by the FARDC Chief of Staff.
In addition to this role, he has been named interim commander of the Communication and Information Service of the FARDC (SCIFA) and will carry out the duties of interim spokesperson until further notice.
Lieutenant Colonel Hazukay replaces Major General Sylvain Ekenge, who was suspended following the broadcast of discriminatory remarks about women in a Congolese community on the public television channel RTNC.
