Kisangani: Defense Minister Assesses FARDC Capabilities Amid Ongoing Security Tensions

By Jean-Marc Okito2 min readFrançais

Kisangani, DRC - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, began a visit to Kisangani, in Tshopo Province, on Wednesday, November 5, to evaluate the operations and training programs of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC).

The mission is part of the FEC program (Training, Equipment, Barracks), designed to strengthen the professionalization and modernization of the Congolese army, in line with President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision for national defense reform.

During his visit, Kabombo is expected to assess the operational readiness of troops deployed in the region and to encourage soldiers engaged in defending the country’s territorial integrity, as tensions continue between government forces and the AFC-M23 rebels, despite ongoing peace efforts under the Doha process.
