Kisangani: army calls on population to be vigilant against M23 infiltrations
On Monday, September 29, 2025 - Brigadier General Jean Daniel Batambombi, deputy commander in charge of civic and patriotic education at the FARDC General Staff Headquarters, urged the population of Kisangani, in Tshopo province, to actively participate in the fight against infiltrations by M23 rebels. During a meeting at Martyrs' Square attended by mayors, neighbourhood leaders, motorcycle taxi drivers and local officials, he stressed that protecting the city is not solely the responsibility of the authorities, but requires collective vigilance and collaboration with the defence and security forces to prevent the M23 from spreading beyond North and South Kivu.
The participants expressed their willingness to cooperate while denouncing certain logistical difficulties and hassles that hinder their work.
