Kenyan Defence Chief Visits Rwanda to Strengthen Military Cooperation
Kigali, November 13, 2025 - The Chief of the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF), General Charles Muriu Kahariri, is on a working visit to Rwanda from November 4 to 7, 2025, aimed at reinforcing bilateral military relations between the two East African nations.
On Wednesday, Gen. Kahariri met with Rwandan Minister of Defence Juvenal Marizamunda and Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, at the Ministry of Defence and RDF Headquarters in Kigali. Discussions focused on reviewing ongoing defence cooperation, identifying new areas of collaboration, and exchanging views on regional security challenges.
During his visit, the Kenyan military chief also toured the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where he received a briefing on Rwanda’s history and paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The visit underscores the continued commitment of Kenya and Rwanda to regional peace, security, and defence cooperation, building on their shared efforts within the East African Community (EAC) and broader continental security frameworks.
