Kayes, February 25, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) claimed responsibility for an attack on a Malian army vehicle using an improvised explosive device (IED) near the town of Aourou, in the Kayes region, on the morning of Wednesday, February 25, 2026. No further details on casualties or material damage have been reported. This incident is part of a series of armed attacks and asymmetric operations in Mali’s western regions.
