JNIM Reports Attack on Pro-Government Militia Headquarters in Bangoungou
Mopti, February 16, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced that four members of pro-government militias were killed during an attack on their headquarters in Bangoungou, Mopti region, on Monday, February 16, 2026.
According to the group’s statement, the attackers seized several weapons and other military equipment before withdrawing from the site.
The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the Mopti region, where armed groups continue to target pro-government forces.
