JNIM Publishes Training and Attack Footage
Mali, February 27, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) released footage on Friday marking the graduation of a new class of fighters from the camp of Commander Abou Yahya al-Mouhajir. The group reportedly operates several training camps across Mali and Burkina Faso, regularly preparing new recruits.
In a separate video released the same day, JNIM claimed responsibility for an attack using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting Malian army forces and Russian military allies in Kidal, near the village of Tiskadween (Tissadwen) close to Aguelhok. The operation, conducted on February 18, 2026, reportedly killed six militia members allied with the Malian army, under the command of General Gamaou.
