JNIM Destroys Malian Army Armored Vehicle in Ké-Macina
Ségou, February 8, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced that it targeted a Malian army armored vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) on Sunday morning along the Markala-Ké-Macina road in the Ségou region. According to the group, the explosion destroyed the military vehicle, marking the second attack in the same area in a short period and highlighting the ongoing threat to this strategic route. JNIM fighters released a video showing the explosion and its aftermath, confirming the target of the Malian armed forces near Ké-Macina. The attack comes amid escalating operations by armed groups in central Mali, particularly in the Ségou region, where Malian forces remain frequently targeted by IED attacks.
