JNIM Claims Second Attack on Malian Forces in Southern Corridor
Mali, March 30, 2026 - The security situation in southern Mali remains tense following a claimed attack by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin) targeting a military convoy.
According to the group’s statement, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon, March 30, 2026, when a Malian army vehicle was struck by a guided explosive device along the route between Sikasso and Dandézila.
No official confirmation of casualties or material damage had been released by Malian authorities at the time of reporting.
The attack comes a day after a similar claim by the same group in the Ségou region, highlighting a pattern of continued pressure on military movements across key transit corridors in southern Mali.
