JNIM Attack on Army Post in Kariforo-Djenné Leaves Four Soldiers Dead
Mopti, February 18, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) reported that an attack on a Malian army post in Kariforo-Djenné, Mopti region, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, resulted in the deaths of four soldiers.
According to the group, the assault also led to the seizure of two military vehicles, several automatic weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment.
The incident highlights the continuing security challenges in the Mopti region, where armed groups persistently target Malian military positions to disrupt operations and capture resources.
