JNIM and GSIM Claim Attacks on Burkinabe Forces in North-Central Burkina Faso
Kaya, December 12, 2025 - Militant groups JNIM and GSIM reported coordinated attacks against Burkinabe security forces in the Kaya region on December 12, 2025.
JNIM announced that it took control of a Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) military post in Founsa during the morning.
GSIM claimed responsibility for two attacks on military posts in Fissila and Founsa, reporting at least one Burkinabe soldier killed and the seizure of light weapons and military equipment.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by Burkinabe forces in maintaining control over remote and volatile areas in the north-central region.
